Medical Superglue (VENASeal) in New Zealand
Not every varicose vein needs to be treated with heat. VenaSeal™ is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a medical adhesive to close the affected vein, offering an alternative for some patients with larger varicose veins. Following a consultation and ultrasound assessment, Dr Maged Aziz will determine whether VenaSeal is an appropriate option based on the pattern of your veins and your individual circumstances.

A Different Approach to Treating Varicose Veins
Rather than using heat to close the vein, VenaSeal delivers small amounts of a specially formulated medical adhesive through a thin catheter placed inside the affected vein under ultrasound guidance. Once sealed, blood is naturally redirected through healthy veins nearby. Over time, the treated vein is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body. The procedure requires only a small entry point and is performed using ultrasound throughout to guide accurate placement.
Designed for a Comfortable Recovery
Unlike thermal ablation procedures, VenaSeal does not rely on thermal energy to close the vein. Because of this, the procedure generally requires only local anaesthetic at the catheter entry site rather than along the full length of the vein.
Many patients are able to return to their usual daily activities soon after the procedure. Unlike some other vein treatments, compression stockings are not routinely required following VenaSeal, although Dr Aziz will provide advice based on your individual circumstances.
